Winter Festival and Kings Club Holiday Party 2010
This winter has us wrapping up 2010 with a lot of holiday cheer at the Kings Club Barber Shop. We kicked off our Canned Food Drive with our Annual Holiday Party last Saturday. It was quite a hoot. We welcomed back our favorite barbershop quartet The Harmony Partners and Scotty relinquished beverage duties to our favorite bartender "Taxidermy Craig". While the Embassy Room was serving up the holiday cheer, Boston was recruiting votes for his run for City Council and I hear there was a Gary Larson sighting. Speaking of City Counsil the Mayor of Dana Point dropped in on his way to flipping the switch for the Tree Lighting Ceremony and all was well.
To those that stopped by and brought gifts for the Canned Food Drive and for the Barber Shop, Thank you. It has been an unbelievable year and we appreciate your support... mtb

The Barber Pole
What is often misunderstood as a candy striper has a history rooted in the tonsorial arts. The Barber Shop at one time was the triage for the hospital and would routinely do procedures such as blood letting, teeth pulling and various medical procedures. The stripes on the pole represent this history... mtb

Xmas Food Drive and Cocktail Party 2009

The Kings Club Barber Shop Xmas Cocktail Party and Canned Food Drive took place December of 2009. The holiday spirit was in the air, Scotty's famed Sailor Jerry Rum and eggnog was keeping us warm and the vocal harmonies of the barber shop quartet gave us a taste of history. A good time was had by all, we collected 143lbs. of canned food for the Second Harvest Food Bank which deserves a "thank you" bear hug to all that participated. mtb

The Barber Shop
One afternoon while I was cutting hair an older lady came to the door. It turns out her dad opened the barber shop in 1963. The shop has changed hands 4 times since then. mtb

The Kings Club Barber Shop Social 2009

Our first barber shop function went off last October. We had all the boys and their ladys show up for the social hour at the Barber Shop. When the homestyle hot Italian sausages were all spoken for and the bucket of Olympias was empty the music began. The Faraway Boys, the Groovy Rednecks and the Big Sleep took it to the next level. Dana Point will never be the same. mtb
